Condemned Surround Sound Issue
Ill start with the basics and move to the issue.

Windows 7 is the OS and I'm using a Rocketfish 7.1 X-Fi sound card.

Should be simple, I hope. I recently reinstalled Condemned Criminal Origins on my PC after upgrading to Windows 7. The game runs fine, except for the sound. It will only give me 2.1 sound. I've tried running it though the Rocketfish card as well as the on-board Realtek sound. On top of that, the game does not give me access to the EAX or hardware sound options in the sound settings section.

I've tried reinstalling the sound card drivers, I've tried installing and running the game in compatibility mode. Running different versions of Creative's Alchemy. Ive even tried downloading custom driver packed from daniel_k. Nothing enables the hardware options, EAX options, or at the very least allow me to play the game in 5.1.

I figure its one of three things, either its the card (being Best Buy's own brand of card, the game or Alchemy may not see the card correctly), its Window 7 (the game is rather old, because of the age of the software it may not work at all) or third: its something I haven't thought of yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

An update that leads me to believe its something with the game:

I downloaded America's Army 3 from steam, the game uses EAX effects and it played them correctly, no use of Alchemy was needed, nor was there a need to change any settings. As stated above, this makes me think its a compatibility issue with the game.

Any one run into a similar issue?
