Age of Empire 3
I recently purchased AoE3 (The basic thing , no expansions) and installed it on my computer. The game runs fine on single player, but as I choose multiplayer my computer locks up and I'm forced to reboot my computer.

-I've fully patched/updated the game to 1.13.
-I've reinstalled.
-I've disabled my firewall as I tried to connect.

Hopefully you guys will have any suggestions to what else I can try.
I remember this happen a few years ago and i got a program that repair it, but i cant find that program

Cheers.

anyway... i've seen Aoe3 freezing up in pc's with vista.
how do you play multiplayer? does it freeze as soon as u press multiplayer button or when u try to connect?
give as much info as possible.

its funny the tag's named AoE3 coz i have some issues with it as well...
the game gives terrible fps when i play with 8 AIs. anyone having similar issues?
i run with all settings maxed out..
gpu 9800GTX+
cpu e8400 clocked to 3.8gighz
mem 2x2gb pc6400
am pretty sure the hardware is not holding the game back.

Actually that's a very good question since a router may act as a firewall...And a firewall can cause problems like the one you experience.

In addition to Couriant's question...are you using any software firewall? Even if you don't have a third party software firewall installed, Vista's firewall can be still blocking AoE from accessing the internet.

So, when your computer seems to lock up, try pressing alt+tab and see if the firewall is giving you any messages.

What program was that?

By the way, is your router connected via usb or directly connected on your ethernet card?

Are you using any wireless usb adapters by any chance?

Oh, the link to your specs doesn't work...

No...

While editing a post just scroll down a bit. Click on the "manage attachments" button. There you can browse for picture files. When you are done click on upload and then on "close this window".

Well, this is a generic Windows XP error message, we can't make anything out of it. If you don't mind post a screenshot of the "technical details" window. You can bring this window up from the error message window.

You didn't answer some of my previous questions...I'm pasting them here from a previous post:

Is your router connected via usb or directly connected on your ethernet card?

Are you using any wireless usb adapters by any chance?
