Kaspersky removal?
My grandson has Kaspersky Pure 2011 or 2012 on, not sure. Big memory user and space. It takes almost 1 gig on C drive to work, his C drive is not that big to begin with. Would like to get rid of it and install AVG free and Zonealarm free. Need to know the site for the Kaspersky removal tools for the above mentioned products. Searched Kaspersky site, went to 4 different Kaspersky sites, nothing about removing their product. I know it keeps items all over the computer so just an uninstall from add and remove will not remove all of them, as it usually does not anyway. Found programs I deleted before still on it in different places, does not remove all the files. Anyway, any help in the removal area would be greatly appreciated, also checked the search form back issues and found nothing. Thanks.

Here you go:

http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208279463

Reboot after running the tool to ensure complete removal before installing another anti-virus program.

Try the Kaspersky Lab Products Remover.

However, I would choose much better free alternatives to AVG, like Microsoft Security Essentials or Avira Antivir.

Is Microsoft Security Essentials both an antivirus and a firewall or does it use the windows firewall already installed? Does it work with free versions of MAM and SAS?

You can use the Windows Firewall with MSE and Avira.

The free versions of MBAM and SAS can be installed, no problem.

Can you use Zonealarm firewall instead of Windows Firewall, I heard its not very good? Any other free good firewalls out there? I take it that MSE is just a antivirus and not a firewall as was not told not to download a firewall?

The Windows Vista firewall is quite alright. It filters incoming and outgoing traffic.

No, MSE is only an antivirus and doesn't include a firewall.

This would not be vista, but XP. Also is MSE a large download as reason for getting rid of Kaspersky Pure is its about a 1 G size installation and am trying to save space on his C drive. Does not have much left. Also the Kaspersky is about to run out. Sorry for asking all the info, still learning and don't want to screw things up and end up on the forum page with another problem.

Yes, both are much, much better choices than AVG. I'd consider the XP firewall perfectly adequate and wouldn't use a 3rd party solution if you use XP SP3. MSE requires 200 MB of disk space and SP3, so make sure the system is current on updates. Avira requires 150 MB and above (depending on some settings).

No worries. without problems, there'd be no need of support forums.
