You will need to give a much clearer description of your problem in order to receive assistance.

This forum is only to be used for those with suspected Malware infections so if your problem only relates to removing AVG Safe Search then you should ask for your thread to be moved to one of the general forums. I would suggest the General Security forum where you are more likely to receive the help you require.

thank you, as ive only just joined and this was one of two issues i asked for assistance with I find your response to say least 'sharp' in the first part. perhaps instructions how to move to appropriate place would hav been a more responsive approach! As you will hav read I found a cure in a different way to those solutions I found in the threads, my e mail was to offer hint to any others who had tried major removal of AVG and still found themselves pestered every time they opened their computer internet browser. Thanks for showing interest in my thread.

Mark's response was not "sharp" as you put it but rather "factual" and quite correct. We cannot provide assistance when we can't understand the problem or there is too little information to be helpful in the troubleshooting process. Everyone here is busy helping people and all on a volunteer basis. It takes more time to have to ask someone for further details before we can even beging to figure out how to help.

As it turns out, from what I know understand, you don't actually need help with anything so please be careful in the future to state the purpose of your post as clearly as possible.

When you registered you would have been presented with an option to peruse the Welcome Guide to get a feel for how the site works. There you would have seen this:
Quote:
REPORT A POST: At the bottom-right of every post, you'll see a link called "Report." Click this link any time you see a post that violates our rules, or when you need your question moved to a different category.
Perhaps now would be a good time to look at the guide and read through the rules as well so you know what to expect in the future. You can read the guide and even watch an orientation video here:

http://www.techguy.org/welcome.html

and the rules are here:

thank you for your reply. I hav looked at your welcome guide but as a beginner there is only so much i can absorb. His second sentence felt sharp given the annoyance i had put up with trying to remove AVG. We can't all be computer literate and I am trying hard to learn my way around its processes. The point is still missed that in looking at your replies to AVG secure search nobody suggested checking downloads listings which is where I found the offending file that had causeded me hassle and created a big problem which Mcaffee failed to solve when they were unable to download a copy of their programme. A little of - you learn something new everyday would be a better response; but given I for one no longer hav this issue I will set this aside now. Thanks for appreciating I am a new member to this site and a little patience in the guidance will go a long way.

I still don't understand what you actually did to remove AVG Safe Search. However, we generally refer to the AVG Remover for uninstalling AVG products.

that won't remove anything that you havnt enabled - my issue was that every time I opened Internet explorer I got a message wanting me to enable AVG secure search, even though I had used tool to remove free AVG I couldnt use IE and couldnt get rid of message which was very frustrating. I read all your possible solutions and found no solutions. As I had an e mail with a download to do with my work I checked 'my downloads' and found a file 'ss-(a few letters)avg' I deleted that file and found I had removed AVG secure search issue from my IE opening page.None of your solutions suggested looking in 'my downloads' part of the computer. I know I do not explain things clearly but I hope this explains.

Cliverunner, just wanted to respond to your comments about my first post being "sharp".

That certainly was not my intention, I was trying to uncover your problem and help you as your opening post was not clear at all. If you read my post again and imagine it being spoken in a friendly voice (as intended) it will have a very different sentiment .

I accept that; having read the full detail and accepting my status 'beginner' perhaps you will understand why I felt that way given I am unsure of my way around the site and issue I had experienced. To know a little and be expected to understand a lot can be very frustrating, a little patience and understanding goes a long way however I appreciate it was not meant the way it felt to me and I hope you now understand why I originally found no solution within your solutions. thanks again and best wishes.
