Malware bytes
I've been running free versions of AVG and Malware Bytes. Malware Bytes is telling me that my trial period is over (I didn't know it was only good for a trial period), and it won't let me reinstall, but only upgrade to the paid version. Now I only have AVG free on my laptop. Do I need to install another security program to go along with AVG? Is there a good free program that covers all the security issues, or will I have to install several different programs?

Promise me you'll keep away from MALWAREBYTES.....please !. This Program was installed without permission when my Computer was taken it for service.
I then made a decision to purchase it ($25.00) and got more Malware in 3 days than in the whole year I've had a Home Computer. In the end, the Computer had to be returned for uninstallation of MALWAREBYTES.
I use an Internet Security Suite called E-SCAN, which may have clashed with MALWAREBYTES. E-Scan's updated hourly and is an excellent Program.
I think I paid about $40.00 for a 12 Month License. E-SCAN's all you need without having to install extra Software, which you have too much of.
Avoid free Programs, as they don't offer enough Security. Check out the Website www.escan.com.au and see what you think.

Uninstall Malwarebytes & then install & update the free version. Pay close attention when installing. You can get the free version here:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

Don't let one person's bad experience with Malwarebytes discourage you from installing the free version. Additionally another popular & well respected antimalware/antispyware program is SuperAntiSpyware. The free version can be downloaded from here:

http://www.superantispyware.com/

One good trip around this forum will be enough to tell you how well those two programs are liked.

A rather sweeping generalisation. Microsoft Security Essentials and other free progs such as Malwarebytes are highly regarded here at TSG.

To give an idea of the effectiveness of some free anti virus progs have a look at these reviews at another respected site:

Hope this of interest.

That's about the worst nonsense I've ever read. What are you trying to say here? Did MBAM somehow attract malware to your computer? That's truly illogical even if taken at face value. A more likely explanation is that Malwarebytes Antimalware detected more malware than your previous "protection". MBAM isn't simply well regarded by members of this forum; it is internationally recognized E-Scan's product is nothing but a kludge of outdated products.

when the free trial of MBAM runs out, it reverts to the free version with the Pro elements disabled
there is no need to uninstalkl or reinstall anything
you still have the scan & clean capabililities, but you need to manually update & manually run scans

It stops you attempting to reinstall another free trial period

Are you a shill for E-SCAN? I've used Malwarebytes for literally YEARS now with no problems, truly one of the finest programs offered.
