UNinstalling Microsoft Silverlight and Google toolbar
I found an uninstaller that works, and I'm getting rid of all the junk in my programs that Windows uninstaller can't get rid of. My question is fairly simple. Will uninstalling Microsoft Silverlight screw up my computer or not? Also, will uninstalling Google toolbar for Internet Explorer screw up my Internet Explorer or not? Thanks in advance.

Google Toolbar is useless.

Microsoft Silverlight is needed to view a lot of content on the Web, like interactive media experiences.

I'd be more concerned about your uninstaller's safety than all the "junk" it claims to get rid of. There's an entire industry built on mostly bogus claims that they have a product that will do basic system maintenance better than native Windows tools. A lot of these tools don't work well, and some are malware. Use them at your own risk.

Have to agree with Phantom010, that the Google Toolbar is mostly useless, but I'd expand that statement to include virtually all toolbars. Toolbars are also a popular venue for malware.

Silverlight is used to deliver a fair amount multimedia content, such as Netflix's player, and so far hasn't been as severe a security issue as Flash.

I already uninstalled Silver light. The post I was responding to was suerplusage after the fact: I had already fixed my problem. I didn't need any further advice or opinion. I never did like Silver light. I installed it by mistake and it has been hanging around for years because I didn't know there are better uninstallers than the crappy one Microsoft puts into its Windows XP.. I got rid of it. My computer works fine without it. Does this clear things up?

Not really. Some of the responses might have been reason to reinstall it if you were running those applications that may be affected and were just trying to be helpful. In any event, it's water under the bridge now.

Yes and so did you. He's banned now for an inappropriate post so now there's no longer a bridge over the water.
