switch from norton to AVG
Can someone please explain to me the benefits/risks of switching from Norton to AVG. I know it may be out of touch with what's going on, but I figure if I have to pay for Norton, there must be some added things that AVG doesn't offer.
Also, any potential pitfalls with making the switch? I've read about people having a hard time removing the Norton software...

Thanks in advance...

Howdy m8675309,
Nortons requires a removal tool to get rid of it and there are links to the removal tool in similar threads (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Norton_Rem...NRT_d4749.html) I just peeked in another thread for you. With Nortons, you pay for all the additional programmes that tend to come with it, depending on what you purchase and although it is quite efficient, it is unfortunately, a resource hog and does slow down performance of your PC. AVG free seems to be very good-both my kids swear by it- but my fave AV's are NOD32 or ZoneAlarm Security Suite. Do a google search and check out PC magazine reviews.
Regards Paula

What a good decision! Congratulations.
First of all. AVG is FREE. Second, AVG uses very little resources, much less than Norton. Thirdly, it's free. Fourth, it is much more user friendly and fifth it is free.
Now as about the firewall, I prefer Comode more than ZA.. But both are good enough.
Enjoy using AVG
