Red face Norton Antivirus Not As Good As It Use To Be?
We use to trust Norton Antivirus to knock out all our virus problems. For three years we didn't have a single formidable attack. Norton knocked out everything.

In the last two months, we were hit twice with viruses that caught Norton completely off guard. The situation got so bad that we installed two hard hitters to fix the problems.

Between Super Antispyware and F-Secure we were able to get our computers back up and running with no problems.

Are the attacks getting worse or is Norton just not as good of a heavy weight as it use to be?

Your thoughts are appreciated. Joe

Norton is not as good as it used to be BUT it is not intended to find the things that products like SuperAntiSpyware find

You need AV's and AS'

I concur with MFDnNC. Whenever it comes to AV solutions, not one product is "100% failsafe". I run AVG free on my computer and we use AVG free on the systems we build where I work, but I don't rely on it 100% and tell customers the same. On top of AVG, I have SpyBot S&D installed with TeaTimer and Resident IE shield (even though I don't run IE). Along with SpyBot, I also run XoftSpySE.

When it comes to spyware/malware solutions, having more than 1 product at your disposal is a good idea because sometimes one program will find what the other one misses. Case in point, XoftSpySE will not catch SmitFraud but SpyBot does (I've encountered 3 instances of that issue in the past 2 weeks). Don't run multiple AV solutions, though. That's worse than having nothing at all.
