AVG Anti-virus
I just downloaded the AVG Anti-virus software several days ago. The update seems to be working correctly and when I go to update the virus definitions it says that all of my virus definitions are up to date. However, Windows Defender and the display on the program icon on my bar show that internal anti-virus database is out of date. Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance!

OK:I may be wrong but isn't Windows Defender an Anti Virus program. If so,you probably should not be running 2 AV's at the same time.Windows Defender is probably not up to date but AVG is.
You might want to disable Windows defender, for a trial.

Yes Defender is an antispyware program, not an antivirus one.

lmccutcheonm, I'm sorry but I'm not sure what is causing your problem. Try opening Defender, click the down arrow to the right of the question mark at the top of that and choose check for updates. windows Defended is not an antivrus program but it does rely on definition updates to work so maybe its those that are out of date.

Thanks for the messages.....I have already updated both of the programs and still an exclamation mark on the castle! If anyone can think of anything else, please let me know as I am just a novice.
