Vista and MCAfee
Hi, I have a new PC with Norton, my question is , Is McAfee compatible with Vista had it on my old XP and worked wonderful.. Has anyone heard of any problems with McAfee and Vista? I personally don't care for Norton as it is a resource hog , and had issues with it in the past. And if not McAfee what other program should I use. And Always Thank You. Nancy

McAfee is not much better than Norton. Any security suite will use a lot of system resources. Instead use a lightweight anti-virus program like NOD32 or Kaspersky and a good anti-spyware program like Spyware Terminator and Super Antispyware or Spyware Doctor.

Compatibility depends on the version. Check McAfee's website for info.

I read in a PC magazine that when they tested McAfee Total protection 2007 on Vista that it performed the worst.
It didn't give much info on how though.

McAfee was installed on my computer when I bought it. It runs fine with Vista, however I uninstalled it as I really do not like this antivirus.. I know Norton is a resource hog, but there are also some other antivrus programs. Why do not you try avast?

I know you have to have the newest version of Mcafee for it to work...When vista was coming out I used the tool from microsoft to see if my computer was compatible and my Mcafee wasn't. But instead of buying mcafee again, I installed free AVAST and Comodo Firewall...Mcafee had started slowing my machine down and now it is not slow with the changes.
