I use comodo firewall. It works well and blocks traffic in and out. It is rated pretty high too.

I have not used bit torrent so I don't know the answer...hopefully someone who uses it can tell you or you can try googling it to see if there is a known conflict.

Zone alarm free version is a safe bet my book http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte...comparison.jsp

You might also try http://www.spywareterminator.com/dnl/landing.aspx for virus and spyware protection. I use this extensively and for the price, it is wonderful!

I also use Zone Alarm but the paid version. If you are interested in the FREE version of Zone Alarm, PLEASE look at the following.

http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte...eeDownload.jsp

PLEASE make sure your click on the second link where it says the following:

I ONLY WANT BASIC ZONE ALARM PROTECTION.

This way you will not get stuck with the trial version of Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite. Once you download the Basic Zone Alarm (FREE), PLEASE follow the popup instructions which will guide you through the installation, THANKS.

PLEASE keep me posted on your results, THANKS.
