Unhappy Windows Security Alerts
Hi, i keep getting a "Windows Security Alert" icon at the bottom of the screen telling me that my anti-virus software may be out of date. I am using Virgins free PCgaurd and have been for the past 4 or 5 months without many problems. When i check, the anti-virus is switched on and seems okay. This also happened last month but has been fine until now. Has anyone any ideas?

Howdy Pistol Pete,
Windows can't always pick up all the different antivirus programmes getting around these days and until Windows knows for sure that the programme is an AV, possibley needing a patch to let it know on one of the regular security updates, you will get this warning. I got it when I first installed Zone Alarm Security Suite and Windows didn't know it had the AV in it. I regularly got the red shield warning then one day it just went away. I always checked that the AV was on and updated then I ignored the warning.
Regards Paula
