Msn Messenger. Help Quick
Okay this is really pissing me off. I'm using Windows XP prosessor and one of the newest versions of windows live messenger. My friend sent me a message that said "This is a picture of you, can i use it for my portfolio". It is called pic(then there was a number i cant remember exactly what). It was uncompressed so i opened it with with WinRar and there was an executable file called something .exe (im really sorry i cant remember) i was kinda unsure about it but it was my friend who sent it so i opened it... nothing happend. I told him and then he said he never sent anything. Ok so now when i log into Windows Live Messenger often time it will stop responding and then i can sorta see windows flashing. I immediatly end everything, and it stops. As it turns out obviously it was sending the virus to everyone one my list of people. But it wasnt all the same message the appeared. Sometimes it wou say "look at his im gona put it on my myspace" or "this is really brutal, this car is wraped arounf this tree". And along with it the pic(watever) file. I told them all not to open it. Ok when i realized this was a virus i found it and deleted it along with the .exe file, that is why im not sure what it is called. It is still doing it now. i scanned with McAfee and nothing showed up. Ok i know there is like a million different of these posts and i looked at them before poting. None of them seem to match mine... i tried look and the the windows task manager prosseing tab, but i got a million things there and none of them say anything that is obviously the virus. PLEASE help and much as you can i really need to clean this thing off.. ps im running an online TREND MICRO scan, if it comes up ill post it. thnx

peace

Have you ever thought about using enter to break up the run on words - that is so hard to read and understand!

Click here to download HJTInstall.exe[list][*]Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.[*]Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.[*]By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis . [*]Click on Install.[*]It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.[*]Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.[*]Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.[*]Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.[*]Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.[*]DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
