AVG firewall issue

im not sure if this has already been asked, but im having problems with my AVG 7.5 firewall. i turned it off for a second to fix something, and now every time i try to turn it on, it times out. this happened about a week ago. any help would be greatly appreciated!

this is the error message it shows when i try to turn on the firewall:
"An error occurred while starting Firewall. This operation returned because the timeout period expired."
