Help with Ad-aware SE Personal and Spybot SD
Ok normally I rely on my brother to fix problems on my pc but even he can't work out whats wrong. I simply cannot run the 2 above files. I also can't run WinRAR. I have windows XP and I try to do a virus, spybot and ad-aware scan at least once evey 2 weeks and I'm worried that these two security programs aren't working.

Can anyone think of anything which may be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance

Claire

Hi and welcome to TSG.
What happens when you try to run them?
Have you visited their website and tried to update them.
Try running them in safe mode..tap F8 at startup..do they work there?

Ok I have uodated both programs and tried them in safe mode and they still didn't work. I've run a system rocovery to see if that helped and again no change. I have discovered though the if explorer.exe isn't running the programs both run without any problems so I have done a check with both and cleared up any problems. But they still don't work while the explorer.exe process is running.

Hi post a Hijack this log it will show all that is running on your system.
One of our log experts will check it.
http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.

Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click Edit > Select All> Edit > Copy ..this will copy the entire contents of the log.
Paste the log in your next reply.

DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
