Question Solved: Does ZoneAlarm FREE work for dial-up?
I was going to download the free version of the Zone Alarm firewall. However, I spotted the following on the "C-Net" download site-

"Publisher's description of ZoneAlarm Firewall (Windows 2000/XP)

"From ZoneAlarm:

"ZoneAlarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers."

Note the specific reference to "DSL- or cable-connected." To me this leaves out those of us who are using dial-up. Am I correct in this assumption?

Hiya

I used to use it for dialup, so I assume it should still be okay. If you set it to start as soon as Windows starts up (so you don't forget when dialing up), it should be okay.

If you want to check its working, go here and try this test out:

And in the Shields Up box, click on File Sharing, Common Ports, All Service Ports and hopefully come back clear

Regards

Thanks for replies. Closing the Thread.
Thanks for the replies. I thought it odd that NZ would not be applicable for dial-up, but that specific wording made me wonder. Sometimes my "eagle eye" sees things better left unseen.

Closing the Thread now.
