Windows Defender Internal Clock Wrong?

I am running Xp on a Compaq Desktop.
I have scheduled Windows Defender to run a scan every day at 2 AM. The clock at the bottom of my computer shows the correct actual time. However, Windows Defender does not run at 2 Am but often at random times during the day (such as 3 PM; 5 PM).
Does Defender have its own internal clock? How do I set it for the correct actual time?
I've tried resetting the Scheduler many times but the time I set is never the time that Defender actually runs.
Any ideas?
