ZoneAlarm Security Alert...any idea?
Windows XP Home SP2
IE6
Firefox 1.5.0.12
Verizon DSL
ZoneAlarm Version 7.0

Hi,
I started receiving these ZA Alerts a few days ago (about 3 or 4 per day).
I'm not sure how to react to them, other than ZA assures me there is no intrusion.

Does the I.P. address have any significance you might recognize?

Thanks,

.

You cant do much to be honest unless you would like to disable Netbios over tcp/ip, which would stop you from getting these erros but at the same time cause 1 or 2 things to not function properly

For me, 192.168.1.1 is my router address and 192.168.1.XXX would be another PC on the router network that is trying to communicate with my PC for some arcane reason.. like it just booted and is announcing its prescense.

So if you don't have a network, or another PC on your network with that I.P., I think there would be cause for concern. If you were using a wireless router. it coud mean a neighbor or someone else has connected to it.

Yeah, I know...call me Mr. Lazy.
I have 1.5 working perfectly with the Theme and Extensions I want.
I've been putting it off mainly because some of those favorite Extensions (30) and Themes (Silver Skin) haven't been updated yet to work with 2.0...

e.g. SessionSaver
although I just now checked and found that a new Extension called
Session Manager is available...
"This extension replaces SessionSaver and Tab Mix Plus' session manager."

Mass Installer Extension...
means I'll need to re-install my Extensions one-by-one.

Plus, the time it will take in reviewing all the new Extensions and setting up the new version.
I also realize 1.5 is no longer supported.
However, I know I must do this eventually so, I might just go ahead with the upgrade today or tomorrow if I see that Extensions have now been updated to be compatible with 2.0.

Thanks for asking.

Update....
In regards to the ZoneAlarm alert...

I just did a Port Scan using Hacker Watch.org and ShieldsUP!

ALL my Ports seem to be secure...
including the Net BIOS Port 139 (Net BIOS)
"This port is completely invisible to the outside world."

Per HackerWatch:
Traffic Sent
"Packets were successfully sent to your computer. The server was unable to obtain a connection or any traffic from your computer. This generally indicates that your firewall blocked the traffic successfully."

So, I'm going to do the simplest thing I can do to keep from receiving those ZA Alerts...
click on the box in the Alert that says "Don't show this dialog again".

Bottom line....looks like ZoneAlarm is doing it's job by keeping my computer secure from outside intrusion but receiving those Alerts is a little unsettling, especially when you haven't received any for a long time previously.

Thanks for your responses.
