Smile Need Help With New Computer
Hey everyone,

I recentley purchased a cheap computer from a buddy of mine, as a means of typing up papers, and using the internet and what not. However, it's been horrible. Whenever trying to use IE, I'll occasionally get popups stating the computer could not find a certain file, then BOOM; I'm done. It has XP installed, but does this weird thing with the theme, where it switches back and forth to a 98 style interface. All around it's just been a pain. I've been reading on here however, people posting Hijack This logs and such, and Users offering help as what to remove and the likes. Could anybody run me through the process; hopefully I can get this thing up to where it needs to be.

Thanks in advance,

Rob

help
if you want to post a hijack log ,here is a site and how to do it.

http://majorgeeks.com/Trend_Micro_HijackThis_d5554.html

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
