IE keeps shutting down
Hello and thanks in advance for any help.

I scaned my laptop using NOD32, Bitdefender, SuperAntispyware, and Spybot all uptodate definitions and in Safemode. Aside from the regular cookies, nothing else - all clean. I've done this 3 times - nothing.

The problem is Internet Explorer keeps shutting down, saying it has to "finalize" (sorry, my system is in Spanish, so I hope I'm translating that word right) and then asks to send an error message, which I do.

It's been going on a week now and I don't seem to see any other problems. Any ideas?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Restart the computer.
Click start -> Run -> inf -> click ok -> look for ie.inf file in inf folder.
Right click on ie.inf click install and follow the on screen instructions.
restart the computer.

Howdy bufalo,
Do you have windows updates set to automatic and have you received updates recently? I had the same problem after my last round of automatic updates last week, (I run XP as my OS) and ended up having to do a system restore to a point before I started having problems with internet explorer. It lead onto ZoneAlarm )my firewall) being unable to start and thus freezing my system! After doing the sytem restore, IE is again running fine.
regards
Paula

Hi and thanks! I found no ie.inf in the inf folder. there is a "ie" and a "ie.pnf" should I install one of them?

pfurball - automatic updates have been turned off for a bit and I update everything. My firewall is windows. should I restore?

Hi bufalo,
It wouldn't hurt to try a system restore back to a time you know there were no problems and see if that means IE works properly again.
It worked for me. Do you run any other browser as I use Firefox more than IE and have a lot fewer troubles.
Regards
Paula
PS By the way, did you do a google search on the "ie" and "ie.pnf" terms and see what is what with them?

Hi,

Right click on ie and click install, it would install Internet Explorer.
