I came across a site that kept asking to install activex i keep saying no and the pop up would not close. Is this a bad sign.

Let us know what Virus and Spyware protection you have intalled as they can enter your system using ActiveX.

A good way to safeguard against Active-x malware is to use Firefox as your browser, it doesn't allow Active-x to run at all.

Then use IE to only go to sites where you need Active-x, like Windows Update.
