My bank called to alert me to suspicious activity. Someone had used both my debit card and my husband's debit cart. The amounts were 1 $29 on my card and 1 $29 on my husband's card and the 5 $1 charges. My bank said they were used on the Internet or by phone. Bank closed cards but now I am worried as to how this happened. I have dsl and the wireless router is encripted. Was it some site I ordered from that was hacked. Did they get into my computer. What action do I need to take. I have avg free, spybot s&d, SuperAtiSpyware and I guess that's about it. I check my bank online but it's pretty secure. I pay bills online and order online. This is really scary as now I am worried about id theft. Not even sure how IE settings are. Suggestions would be greatly welcome.

If you have HJT already please uninstall before reinstalling new version
Click here to download HJTInstall.exe

• Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
• Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
• By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
• Click on Install.
• It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
• Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
• Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
• Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
• DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
• DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

The card numbers someone used, the account is linked directly to paypal. Do you think this is how the information was got.

Have you ever used it in a store or restaurant in person? It could have been stolen that way. Just because you once used it on the Internet doesn't mean there's anything suspicious with the computer. Hackers don't hang out waiting for individuals to transmit a single transaction.

and said she would take it for me. I thought it strange because
they never do that in this resturante where we frequent. Maybe...

Woops! I don't think it happened at restruante because they got both our debt card numbers. The bank informed me the charges never went through and that the theive was most likely checking to see if the card worked so we really don't know how this happened.
