Hey,

For removing rootkits i recommend Sophos anti rootkit and i don't really recommend free antivirus because it takes people like AVG so long to react to new viruses and malware. And the detection isn't all that great either.

Download superantispyware, that will take care of "stuff" as you call it. Spyware, Malware, Adware - And also some variants of viruses
