Desktop Keeps restarting every 10s
I really hope you guys can help me.

When i start my computer either:
1) my desktop loads up fine but then every 10 seconds it refreshes (explorer.exe refreshes)
2) i get a blank desktop without any icons or anything and i have to hit control+alt+ delete to get into task manager and manually have explorer.exe run. Then the desktop starts refreshing/restarting after every 10 seconds.

its really annoying and i have finals in the next 2 days so please somebody help me fix this.

I tried the following:
-I ran ad-aware and cleared all the infections. I am running a virus scan and it says i have got 2 trojans: oaif.exe (SHeur.ADXU) and rtfjiqam.exe (Generic_c.FPC). The viruses were healed...still problem persists.

-i tried running the computer in safe mode and the desktop still refreshes every 10 seconds.
-I tried doing system restore, but it doesn't matter what point i choose it says system restore incompelete.
-ran registry mechanic...had a few problems...fixed them...still problem persists.

Now i am out of ideas and frustrated. Please help.

My computer is a dell laptop inspiron 600m, 1GB Mem, 80GB HDD and running windows xp home with sp2.

1. Download SUPERAntiSpyware

Follow steps:

-Run the setup.

-When finished, and this is importaint, UPDATE your definitions by clicking "Check for Updates"

- After updating, press "Preferences" -> Scanning Control And check the "Scan for tracking cookies", "Scan for Alternate data streams", "Terminate memory threats before quarantining" and the "Close Browser" options.

- Uncheck "Ignore Files Larger than 4MB", "Ignore Non-executable files", "Scan only known file types",

- Do a full scan, preferably in Safe Mode ( Without internet connection! - this will cut the trojans "air supply" )

- Delete/Quarantine EVERYTHING that is listed when scan is finished.

- Scan twice ( After rebooting ) - It may help

2. Try downloading AVG anti-rootkit to check if some deeper files got into your computer.

- Install and scan

- Get rid of everything if anything shows up

3. Ok, Now you have done some scanning - Still concerned?

- Download newest version of Hijackthis ( v 2.0.2 )

- Install & Run

- Press "Do a system scan and save a logfile"

- Let it finish - AND DO NOT FIX ANYTHING

- When finished, copy the text in notepad, And post it as a new thread in the Malware and HJT forum - You Will get expert help.

___________

Good Luck!
