hostile proxy
Hi, I visited a forum yesterday and a security warning came up. I can't actually remember the full details but it was about being redirected to paypal and the license of the paypal site was invalid, something like that.

I checked on the site this morning and it said I had been banned for trying to use a script on the site and for using a proxy server.

I have just checked out about proxy servers (not knowing anything about them really) and found out that hostile ones can be used to intercept data traffic between a site and the end user.

I am sure this has now happened to me. What actions can I take to put a stop to this?

I also now want to change all my passwords but if I do that surely when I type the new one in, if this proxy still exists they will then have my new password also.

Please help a very worried member

Thanks
Woody

Your proxy settings are here:
/Internet Explorer / Tools / Internet Options / Connections/ Lan Settings button.

Uncheck that 'use proxy checkbox.
