Smile PC Tools Doctor Spyware anti virus
Hi

Thankyou for your site. Can you tell me if this virus protector is worth the 60 AUD it asks to download. It appears to be better than the dreaded Norton which I have but relish putting on a new machine. Also is it better than the free AVG

all the best

If it was my call, I would rather buy SUPERAntispyware Pro for 33 AUD.

Well, its scanning engine is very good, and it has an expansive database of definitions. However it lacks suitable protection engines (which is why PCTools acquired CyberHawk).

I suggest you get Spyware Doctor Starter Edition (which comes with Google Pack), which gives you the power of Spyware Doctor scanning AND removal for free (unlike Spyware Doctor trial downloadable from pctools.com), and look for a secondary program for protection. There are many options out there for protection...standalone HIPS for one.
