I have a problem with finding the wright protection for my pc!Can you guys help me?!I want to know what is ( for you ) the best protection for computers.I mean the whole package!Antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware and etc.Help me! | | Distinguished Member with 3,035 posts. | | Join Date: Jan 2001 Location: Avalon,Catalina Island,Ca. Experience: Intermediate | | Hummm:I've always been told that the best protection is total abstinence, but where's the fun in that(just kidding)
I have three pc's all on broadband cable. On all of them I have AVG atni spyware and AVG anti virus,Comodo firewall and spyware blaster. All of these are free.(my favorite 4 letter word)
I also have a router installed(basically a hardware firewall) which gives me more security. With this setup,I have not been infected in three years and spyware scans reveal very few intrusions.
I am sure that others here will be able to give you advise on their favorites also.

I also use Windows Defender,Spyware Terminator,Spyware Doctor,Super AntiSpyware, the latest Firefox,Opera and IE7 browsers and Linksys WRT54GC router with WPA2 encryption as a hardware firewall. Also, common sense; not opening e-mail attachments, clicking on links from unknown sources, etc. | | Junior Member with 7 posts. | | Join Date: Dec 2007 Experience: Advanced | | ZoneAlarm is a very good firewall. It does a great job of tracking access to your computer and alerts you of any intrusions. Very handy!
As for virus: AVG Free edition. | | Senior Member with 118 posts. | | Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Georgia, USA Experience: I'm purty good wid a 'puter | | Here's what I use: for AV, I use Avira AntiVir, for anti spyware I use a-squared free and SuperAntispyware Free. For firewall, I use Online Scanner Free, which is just as effective as Comodo Firewall Pro, just doesn't require as much attention, that doesn't mean that it doesn't work, it is is just a little easier to use and doesn't ask you about every little thing. I also use SpywareBlaster and Ccleaner as a little extra backup and cleaning.
Hope this helps.

Besides reviews of each, some effectiveness ratings from it below.
I suggest one package for firewall and anti-virus (Linksys router and ZoneAlarm Security Suite are both very good from my experience), and a separate software for anti-spyware.
No anti-spyware alone is going to cover you 100%, but I read one article where if use both Spyware Doctor and Spyware Sweeper, you have nearly 100% coverage.
94%** Spyware Doctor
89%* Spyware Sweeper
84%* Spybot Search and Destroy
80%* Ad-Aware 2007
80% AVG Anti-Spyware
78% Spyware Terminator
77% SUPERAntiSpyware
75%** ZoneAlarm Anti Spyware
75%* Windows Defender
68% McAfee AntiSpyware

#13 | I just came across this today, and installed the trial version of Threatfire, though it has been out there for at least months. Instead of just using the traditional signature based form of anti-malware (virus and spyware) where there is always a lag between when the malware first appears and your receive definition updates to your software for them, this new breed of anti-malware uses sophisticated real-time behavioral analysis to detect malware as zero-day threats when they first appear. You can use this in conjunction with your current ant-virus and anti-spyware software. #14 | I use Avira too and have been very happy with it. I had AVG with firewall but it slowed my PC way down and I found it too complex and time consuming.
