Solved: Hard Drive Pass
I have a second hard drive installed in my PC. It is primarily used for storage of important , personal data. I would like to put a password on it to limit access. Can anybody out there tell me how?

Thanks

Broly

I would like to do something similar to that, but just protect a folder and not the whole hard drive.
And for the spec of my PC, the icon is above.

Yea, I can refer you to a small non-installing portable program with AES 128 encryption that you can lock a folder with a password.

Try Yadadisk Bin

Look it up on google for more information

Edit: however, if you are looking to encrypt the entire drive, I would recommend TrueCrypt.

If you have XP, you can restrict access either in policy or with security settings. With TweaUI for XP, you can also make the drive disappear from explorer (though that doesn't restrict access. Even though not visible, if someone puts F: or whatever letter it is in the address box, it will open up, so TweakUI is not enough by itself).

You forgot to mention, that if he wants to encrypt a file with a password then he can use what I suggested.

But, that is if that is what he is looking for.

Hey, I told him:

"Even though not visible, if someone puts F: or whatever letter it is in the address box, it will open up, so TweakUI is not enough by itself."

So if all he wanted to do was hide the drive, then that's up to him.

Hiding
Maybe it would suit my purposes more if I just hid the drive. I've been thinking about the fact that all of my music files are stored on this drive and that blocking access to the drive may pose problems with WMP. It may be better if it was simply hidden.
