IE: Google URL intermittently gives "cannnot display webpage"
Intermittently IE 7 gives me "cannot display webpage" (not 404 Can't find) for Google which is my home page. By intermittently I mean I get that result hours on end, then an attempt will be successful. Then OK for a long time and suddenly unavailable again.

What have I tried? Clearing temp files, history and cookies, checking to make sure it's a trusted site, changing the IE security settings. resetting home page, rebooting, deactivating Norton firewall and anti-malware, completely removing Norton, inputting URL manually, accessing Google through other routes such as an MSN search for Google. None of these seem to trigger either the onset or the cessation of the condition.

This doesn't seem to occur with any other websites. It appears to affect any URL with google in it, such as igoogle, google search results, etc. Does not appear to affect google earth.

I also haven't identified any pattern in relation to time of day, what else is running or not, phase of the moon, or my horoscope. I'm wondering if ritual slaughter of small mammals would help. Any wisdom will be appreciated.

I am wondering if this maybe a DNS issue. Do a NSLOOKUP search for google.com, note the ip addresses, and use the ip # in IE. See if that helps?
