Question Macbook trojan.
Yeah that's right. There's a trojan on this macbook that my dad uses most of the time. He was on a website when a popup came up telling him about some privacy violating thing on his computer. He clicked it thinking it was something from apple. Now this thing pops up every thirty minutes or so. The exact wording of the popup that keeps coming up it as follows.

WARNING! 441 Privacy violations found.
MacSweeper found 4441 Privacy Violations on your computer during recent system scan.
Your Security and Privacy are in DANGER

Immediate cleaning is required.

Then it gives you a DOWNLOAD NOW option, or a no thanks option, which of course is a lie. So my question is, how do I get rid of this annoying little trojan that seems to have infected my dad's macbook?

Malware removal forum
Hi,

If you go to the main malware removal forum (just above this one on main forum page) read the stickys, follow their directions, someone will help you sort out and remove the infection.

Best of Luck,
Drew

Malware
Listen

You want to go to the other forum, read the stickys/directions, and start a new thread because you need to give them certain information and they look for threads with zero replys to respond to.

So it really is best for you if you read the directions there and do what they ask. Then don't respond to your own thread so that it will get picked up as quickly as possible.

Hi Dryer-lint! Welcome to TSG.

Yes- when you definitely are sure there is malware that will need expert help always go to our Malware Removal & Hijackthis Logs forum available from the main Forums page listed under Security and Malware Removal

There unfortunately may be some waiting time until you get some help- we are pretty busy, are volunteers who are not here helping all the time- we like what we do though!

Here's a link to what you should read over: http://forums.techguy.org/malware-re...ting-help.html

I'd like to leave your thread here, so it will be seen.

((Don't worry about this thread- I will Close it for you.))

And> thanks Drewcat for pointing Dryer-lint in the right direction!
