Solved: want advice
I am running Vista and it has been very stable and trouble free for me for about a year now.

Up until now I have relied on AVG free and the free version of Super-anti spyware to protect me.

I received a boxed version of Kaspersky for Christmas and I am getting ready to
install it, but before I do, I want to hear from others, pro and con about
Kaspersky.

Does Kaspersky play well with others in the Vista format?

Is there anything I need to know before I take the Kaspersky plunge?

Well, since no one replied to me I went ahead and dove into the Kaspersky 7.0 install onto my year old vista box

Everything went well for about two hours and then, out of the blue everything went totally haywire and I was forced to throw it overboard. As I stated in my original post, this system has never once given me a bit of trouble since I built it a year ago. It has always been as rock solid as George Bush's view of the war

The problem solving process that Kaspersky employs is maddening. Searching their
database for solutions produced nothing except anger. Contacting them is pretty much out of the question as they are deeply barricaded behind layers of point and click

I work with a wide variety of software at work and one of my jobs is to help our
plant engineer keep the 55 desktop computers and our server up and running in our shop so I know a thing or two about problem solving and troubleshooting.

With that being said, I can say without hesitation that this software is not for the faint hearted who are looking for an alternative to AVG or Norton or the many other run of the mill AV applications
available to the home consumer.

Kaspersky might be great in the hands of a seasoned IT professional but it should be avoided
for casual home user, especially on Vista.

Working with this Kaspersky software today took me back to the bad old days of Windows ME that came
loaded on my first PC.

No AV plays well with another.
You must completely remove one b4 installing another.

Very good. Sometimes that's what it takes.

Try Linux. At least when you try an app and don't like it, it was free to start with and easy to remove. Usually with an alternative.
