Spyware or not?
Whenever I download antispyware or registry cleaners, they say that there are hundreds of problems, but Norton Antivirus 2007 (LiveUpdated Regularly) does not mention anything. I cannot remove the infection because I would have to register, and since I am fourteen, I don't feel comfortable paying online.

Is there a way to confirm the presence of these malware, and if yes, how do I remove them?

did you read the stickies at the start of this forum? there are some great recommendations for free anti-spyware programs and anti-virus programs.

what have you downloaded?.....a lot of the ads that come up are hooks to buy a reputable program, but the ad will tell you you've got problems, and need to pay for the answer.

I've downloaded

Spy Doctor
(many of the other antispyware consider it spyware and it didn't work)
needs reg

Arovax Antispyware
(worked perfectly fine but found less problems)
no reg

Regcure
(demo could only remove the least important)
needs reg

Spyware bot
(worked fine)
needs reg

AVG antispyware
(I forget but I ditched it)

Windows defender
( "found four fatal errors, zero fatal errors solved, four fatal errors could not be solved" (I think it was four))
no reg

There might have been more, but I forget

Remove all others and download "Avast! antivirus", "Spybot Search and Destroy" and "CCleaner". Run them in that order and you should get rid of a multitude of problems. Go for ZoneAlarm as your firewall instead of the Windows firewall. Steer clear of the usual proprietary antivirals etc such as Mc**ee and Nor**n. They cost a fortune and aren't any better than those mentioned. Besides that they can take up a lot of your processors resources.

Thanks for all of the antispyware solutions, but my question is how to make sure if I am infected or not

If you run those, they'll tell you exactly that

Hi shant93

I see you've posted the Hijackthis log in Malware Removal....if you don't mind, I'd like to Close the thread here. If you need it reopened please PM me with your request. It helps to have only one thread going so replies here won't confuse what you are doing in your other thread. You should get some help soon.

PS Didn't see anything obvious in your log

The helper in your other thread may have some further checking to do for you, so continue along in that thread.
