Since Jan 1, I've been having a strange problem with not being able to left click on some programs. I cannot left click and open anything from the quick launch bar. When I open some programs, I cannot left click with the program window. When I open Firefox and click on Bookmarks, History etc.. all I see is a quick flash of the drop menu and then nothing. I can click on icons on the desktop, start menu etc..(although that is sometimes intermittent) but not the log out or shutdown buttons. I had AVG Free 7.5 installed and did a scan with that with no problems. I did an online scan with Housecall with no problems. I removed AVG and installed McAfee and scanned with no problems and also with Ad aware. I did do a system restore back to Dec 31 and everything worked fine for about half an hour and then the problems started again. I also tried disabling everything in startup but didn't change anything.

Running Windows XP SP2

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Problem is still on going. I've tried several virus programs, antispyware programs, Advanced WindowsCare, CCleaner but nothing seems to work. Did a Windows XP repair which helped for about 2 hours and then back to the way it was.
So I've bought a new hard drive, doing a fresh XP install on there and formatting the old hard drive.
