Norton goback and protected files
I've recently found the gobackio.bin file for norton go back and I see it's about 5gb in size. I want to remove it but the file is hidden. If I uninstall norton goback will it remove gobackio.bin or will it leave it on my pc? If uninstalling goback leaves it on my pc how can i remove it? Also I can't seem to delete my norton protected files from the recyclebin, I click purge all but the files are stil there. I have norton systemworks 2006 by the way.

Try going to start/control panel/folder options.
Click the view tab and select show hidden files.
If you plan on continuing to use go back, you will have to make another backup.
Uninstalling should work.

I already have that selected, but you telling me me to notice the "Hide protected os system files" option. With that disabled i can now see goback.bin so thanks. Now i have another question, after disabling that option i now see a file called Thumbs.db on the desktop. What does it do and is it safe to delete it? Or i could just re-enable the above option.

Also with the norton protected files now visible I could delete them without having to use the options in the norton protected recylcebin (which don't seem to work anymore). All of the files seem safe to delete except NPROTECT.LOG. Does anyone know if it's ok to delete it?

NPROTECT.LOG is just a log file of the operations completed.
It's safe to delete.
If norton is not working, you may just want to unintall it.

If you need a good backup solution, acronis true image or
norton ghost can backup your entire computer to a
seperate hard drive and completely restore it in
case of a crash.
