Unable to restrict file sharing
As the administrator of my shared computer, I naturally want to restrict certain files from my guest and limited account holders. I have toggled "do not share files" on my own douments, as well as toggelin the same for C drive....I tried doing the same with "My Computer", but if my memory serves, I think that function was unavailable. Even though all the "sharing" tabs clearly show that I have toggled the restriction of file sharing, the other users are still able to go into my "computer", "c drive" and "documents". Anybody know what could be wrong? Much appreciation for any input.

Thanks,
Buckstar

Cannot locate "Network and sharing"
Thanks for your help, but when I go to Control Panel, I only have "Newtwork Connections".. I searched throughout like in preferences, but nothing that indicates file sharing options. The guest account is unable to see my files, but the limited user account is able to do so. I have XP professional

Right click on the folder in question, choose properties, then the security tab. The dialog box shows all the users and each user/group's access rights as you click on each user or group. You can adjust each user/group's access there.

To add to what WK200 said, make sure that the other users are not mapping to the drive as another person, like an admin. If that is the case they will have access to the drives no matter what. To get around this Microsoft should apply the most restrictive security setting, so you can add the user to the security list for the network, not the local machine and explicitly deny access from their. I think you are using the wrong security tab under properties. There is one for your local machine and one for network access.
