Solved: Advice
Hi all,

Its been a while since I've had an issue with my laptop. However an issue has reared its ugly head. I was recently on my laptop and the program I was using crashed, so I turned my laptop on and off. However, when it re-loaded my Norton Antivirus said that Intrusion detection had been turned off, so I tried to turn it back on, it made like it had done, but it remains turned off. I have no idea how to fix this issue.

If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

I have tried this but to no avail, as when i try to re-install it asks me to uninstall first, however uninstalling will cause me to lose my subscription information, so 50 odd days that i've paid for will be up in smoke.

Has anyone heard of this happening??I have asked about this sort of issue a few years ago and the only replys i got were re-install norton, this does not work.

Hi joe_robot
have you contacted Symantec about this problem? They are usually helpful. Can you write down your subscription information and re-enter it on uninstall/re-install?

I used to use norton back when it came with my dell pc... At that stage (4 or so years ago) I wasn't really knowledgeable with computers as such and anyway, the same thing thats happening to you happened(well along the lines of it) and anyway we sat on the phone while the symantec people talked on the phone, constantly being put on hold and it ended up costing us in excess of 300$, not to be biased or anything but norton doesn't have a lot of things going for it

I did try there online help mode, but the guy took ages to get to my problem and then he couldn't actually remotely connect to my computer, and then that was that.

They are pretty useless in regards to sorting out there systems. I may have to try and install and re-install but will have to leave it for when I have some free time.

Right uninstalled and re-installed Norton, STILL THE SAME PROBLEM!!!

All it says on the symnatec site is run live update, I have ran live update and it says that Norton does not recognise the update for intrusion detection!
