Spyware Terminator
The adds for SpywareTerminator 2.0 (free) state that it works with other anitspyware programs. My question would be" Do other spyware programs work with Spyware Terminator 2.0? I am using Windows Defender and AVG Free. Are all these compatable on the same machine? Thanks.

Both Spyware Terminator and Windows Defender are real-time anti-spyware programs and you should only run one at a time, which means have just one installed or disable the real-time protection of one of them. AVG free is only a scanner so there's no conflict there.

I've read several articles comparing different anti-spyware programs and Windows Defender is almost always at the bottom of the list. One article said that of the spyware samples they had Windows Defender caught 0%. I would get rid of Defender completely and go with Spyware Terminator.

Sorry it took me a couple days to get back to you. Thanks for the accurate information! I have had Windows defender on this machine for almost a year and it has never caught anything that I remember. I guess I can just to add and remove programs and get it off here? Thanks again!

Don't mean to disagree but....
While it is true that you should run only one anitvirus and one firewall program on your PC, there should be no problems in running more than one antispyware program.

I am currently running the free version of Spyware Doctor 5.1 along with Spyware Terminator (both real time) and I have not had any problems.

Opinions Vary...
I guess it depends who you speak to.

As long as they don't conflict (as is my case), I don't see the problem in using more than one.

After you’ve done your research and know which ones are acceptable, it can be helpful to pair several together.

Why do you need more than one? As we’ve mentioned, definitions and updates change. Some may have more advanced or even more specific solutions than others do. Some may look in other files than others. Some are more selective while others are more complete.

Anti-spyware has a different rule than anti-viruses, not like anti-viruses, you can install more than one anti-spyware in your system.

Hi your first link dosen't mention Spyware programs running in Realtime.
Your second link dosen't say it's ok to run two Realtime Spyware programs.

That said if it works Ok for you then it's Ok.
But what if using two Realtime Spyware programs stops both of them running correctly or flag up each other as being a threat?

I find that the two programs that I use (Spyware Terminator and PC Doctor) work great together. They never detect each other as spyware nor do they appear to conflict at all. Each of them has been valuable in flagging incoming threats at various times.

Truth be told, I also use 3 other programs: Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and SUPERAntiSpyware (none real time). Everytime I run one of them, I always catch some nasties (pretty much only small nuiscances like ad / tracking cookies from web surfing however).
