What version is it and is it a trial version or already paid for.

What's the exact error message?

The message i get when i try to run it is that "vsmain has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience"

and it is a paid for professional edition.... cant find the eiditon though... but as i said, i was using it maybe 2 or 3 years ago... and i was looking for a decent antivirus that will not slow down my computer (its an older celeron with 256 MB of Ram) so i thought an older program would do much better than a newer one since they were designed for lower specs

That will work for many programs, but with an anti-virus program you always want to be using the latest version.

So instead of McAfee I would get AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. It's a good free anti-virus program and easier on resources than McAfee.

If you also need a firewall, try Comodo Firewall Pro, also free.
