AVG Free Edition - getting what I paid for I guess
I keep hearing all kinds of great things about AVG so I thought I would give it a try. Ever since I installed it my Adobe Premiere will not work properly, it shuts down in the middle of use and freazes the computer up. If I remove AVG and put Live one care or Norton back on I do not have the problem. I seem at a loss as to a solution other than staying away from AVG, as although it is free, it seems I am getting what I paid for.

I have a Intel core 2 duo and 3 GB of ram with plenty of video memory and free HD space. AVG is fully upto date.

Any ideas on what is causing my issues.

Thanks

It could be an old version of any particular file from the adobe program conflicting with AVG. I have seen this before I would suggest un-installing the Adobe Premier and then reboot and install the AVG then get the updates and reboot and re-install Adobe Premier.

Thanks for the tip, but even after re-installing it does not seem to make a difference. I think for the trrouble, I wil just ditch AVG and go with what seems to work. I was hoping that I could save $$ on anti-virus programs, but don't want to have to deal with these types of frustrations, as I seem to have used more of my time than it was worth to save a couple dollars.

Thanks anyway!

You might try this http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and see if it will work with your adobe premiere. It`s free, I`d put anything but Norton on if I could, just my opinion.

Changing AV's si sometimes not an easy process. Even after being uninstalled, many will still load drivers that can conflict with new ones. This is especaillty a problem with drivers that load on boot to protect the machine immediately.

If you switch, you need to make sure that the previous app is completely gone. One way to do this is to look through Autoruns after uninstallation to be sure that no old drivers are loading and removing them if they are.

Very few people have had any problems with AVG, so it needs to be something in particular about your machine. Their customer support is excellent, even for the free version, so you could also try contacting them.
