Smile change router password
hi,,i was going 2 change my router password but i get a pop up saying that the info i am sending is unencrypted & anyone can read it,,,not good,,i was doing it through my firefox browser without using my disk i got from dlink (dlink 604) wired router.what i want 2 do is change the password & shut off plug & play..not quit sure about the plug & play,,i heard it should be shut off but i really don't understand it,,so anyway,,wouldn't it be a security risk sending my new info in an unencrypted manner,,should i use the disk that came with the router,,i did try that 1st but it wanted a password & name, name would b admin but i don't have a password, it should be the default but i don't know it...online i can enter new password without the old one,so i have a bit of a problem..hope u follow all that..thanks!

Unfortunately, if you already set a password, you'll need to remember what you set it to in order to change it, or the router will have to be reset to default values. You'll find information regarding your router set up in the user's manual that should have come with it, or at the online website for the manufacturer.

That is all the help we can give in assisting passwords, per the forum rules. I will close this thread now.
