and you'll end up wtih two spybot installs. delete the old one 1st.

i tried 1.5 a while back and had so many freezeups on several computers that i removed it and went back to 1.4.

Do you mean, two entries showing in Add/Remove??

If so, I just finished updating and installed on top, and I only have one entry there. I think this used to happen in the past. Perhaps they have corrected it!

I think they did.

You can install over the old version.
You can download the new version here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
Or choose the direct installation file

Don't forget to update afterwards!

The only known issue I noticed them talking about addressing was the long load time of v1.5.1. But I haven't read very deep into the changes yet. It's still to new for me so I'll be waiting till its been out a little longer ... get more peoples reactions to it before I decide to install (I'm still using v1.4, had to many problems with v1.5.1 so dumped it)

Will this update be downloaded as part of Spybot's internal update mechanism or must I download the new version manually?

Peace...

ummm ... actually it looks like it may be included with its internal update in the near future (unless I'm reading wrong)

.....Throughout the next days our partners and ourselves will provide you with version 1.5.2. This version will also be available through the integrated update within the next days.

that's scary unless it comes up in the list, where you can select what is updated.
i don't do them all.

and to that I'll agree. I don't want to upgrade until I've seen more peoples oppinions on it.

When I first got 1.5.1 I experienced the long load times and sometimes it would freeze up when trying to do an update. The problem was fixed in a later build of 1.5.1 and as a part of this version they say 'Long starting time of Spybot-S&D 1.5.1 fixed'.

Seems to work fine for me so far. Before I installed the new version I checked for updates and it said 'No newer updates available', so as of now it only updates definitions and not new program versions.

I installed it in sandboxie just to take a look at it and it seemed to work fine but I didn't really use it too long,

maybe later I'll try it out more,

I'm just waiting for more users opinions like everyone else
