Internet Suite Help
Any strong recommendations on an internet suite, or suggest single components to address major issues . . . antivirus, firewall, spam, etc.

If single components, which ones are best?

Try one that doesn't say Gnome.

When you hear/read about security problems, "New virus outbreak," they always omit something, "Microsoft." "New Microsoft virus outbreak," is how they should read.

I recommend webroot spysweeper, the anti-spyware program is quite good. Won some awards etc. The protection you choose should be related to what you do most. I surf more than I download, so anti-spyware is important to me. If you download a lot then pick a good antivirus too. I use AVG, it has found some viruses for me and its free. I tend to choose best of breed and not application-suites.

Unfortunately, there aren't any all-in-one security suites that are good all-around. Here are my reccommended lineups.

Lineup with all free programs:
Comodo Firewall Pro
Avast Antivirus Home Edition
A-squared free anti-malware
Spybot search & destroy

Lineup with paid programs:
Outpost firewall pro
Avira AntiVir PE Premium
Webroot Spysweeper
Sunbelt Counterspy

In my opinion, Ad-aware isn't even that good anymore. In fact, Ad-aware has never detected anything on my machine but everything else has detected at least one threat.

Try my link and get rid of that whole line-up.
