AVG failed. Successfull Avast. Now computer slow with antivirus
Hello there,

HP Pavilion P3 550
1 G ram
80 G HD
Win 2000 Pro
Note: it orignally came with a Win 98 SE recovery/system CD. I have tossed that aside and installed Win 2000 so that I can update security issues etc..

I have always used AVG. I tried to install it on my daughtewrs older computer. (I keep this one because it runs her older games she likes). Upon installation I got the following error message:
Action failed for avg7.coresys. starting service . Insufficient system resourses exist to complete the requested service (1450).

I decided to try Avast because I read on this forum that many of you successfully run it and it's good. I installed it and now the computer is so slow that it isn't worht running. I never had this problem with AVG.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Anna

It's a 550MHz Pentium III. What do you expect? My daughter has a laptop with a 1.33GHz Mobile Pentium III and it's pathetically slow.
