Question Taskbar Gone except for Start Button, Possible Virus???
Hi all,
So I started having a problem with my laptop. When my computer would start up, everything would start up normally and then suddenly my taskbar disappears but the start button stays. In addition, in blank fields if I clicked in the field the hyphen symbol would start repeating over and over. I went online and went through a free malware/spyware whatever they are clean your computers. I restarted and now I don't have the hyphen problem but I still can't see my taskbar, except for the start button. I wouldn't care as much but it has affected other things like my internet connections, etc.

When I start windows in safe mode, I have my taskbar and it doesn't disappear at start up. But then in normal mode poof it goes...help! Thanks! This is for Windows Vista

Hi not a Vista user but try.
Right-click on a blank spot on the taskbar.
Select Properties.
On the Taskbar tab under Taskbar appearance.
Uncheck Auto-hide the taskbar

Hi thanks for the response. Unfortunately right clicking where the taskbar used to be does nothing. It's almost like it's frozen except for the start button part, which does work. I don't think this is a simple me hiding my taskbar or selecting some property unfortunately
