i need serious help
yesterday i was trying to download a movie and my norton and windows defender informed me i had maleware viruses and trojan horses, i ofcourse freaked out because im not the most computer literate guy around. i did however do some research in a few different forums and decided to download avg? i did a scan and was prompted to heal ALOT of different things. i did and restarted my computer , i ran norton internet security afterwards and it found nothing harmful, and im not getting any popups saying im "infected" anymore, how can i be sure that im not still infected, oh also my computer (told me) my personal info was probally being obtained or monitered by someone or somthing, before the avg was downloaded, this is my first post and agin, im not all that computer savy. Thanks in advance

Where were you downloading the movie from?

P.S. I'm serious.

yea....limewire is pretty terrible....and dangerous never used it myself cause, of its dangers (not to mention its against laws), what other anti SW, malware, AV do you have? AVG has a low detection rate but most people seem happy with it, i would recommend Avast!, also you may want to post a hijackthis log here to get a secruity pro to check it out, it does sound like you still have a bit of a problem, do not put details, creditcard numbers or passwords anywhere if you can, if you have a keylogger hell be taking all your details by the second!

Did you download AVG anti virus or anti spyware?

Makes a difference. as you do NOT want more than one anti virus program running. it can cause issues. so if you did load another anti virus then you need to remove one.

once you get that sorted out then go to the forum for "Hijack This" and download the program and post the results here.

then go to the red triangle in the right corner of each post and ask to have this thread moved to the hijack this forum.

Good luck

He's already started a new thread there, but, since he mentioned Limewire I doubt the sympathy will be there for any quick replies
