Hi everyone. i need some help quick!

I had zonealarm security suite running for quite a while now and its has been ok, not too bad. All in one and wasnt too much of a resource hog.

Ive recently had an update from them for a new version of the program. Since i have done this this my internet has been rather slower (pages load up alot slower than they use to) and the most annoying bit, when i log onto the comp, after the log in screen dissappears it just shows a blank screen with the desktop background for a few minutes (no taskbar, no icons just the background) and then suddenly everything appears slowly on the screen and then a further few minutes for zonealarm to initialize! In general i thinks its made everything alot alot slower...

Now does anyone have any ideas as to how i could solve this problem? Or should i just abandon zonealarm and use another firewall, antivirus and anti-spyware programs, if so what are the most effective and best programs out there right now for all three things?

I am running windows xp pro by the way!

Ok after deleting the contents of the prefetch folder and rebooting the computer starts alot quicker and is better but my intial question still remains?!?!

well if your not happy COMODO is a good firewall that has basically the same sort of thing, i use ZA pro myself and have never had a problem (except for when tha scans run ) although i have heard a few people complaining about the newest version...

Yeah ive really had no problems before either you know, until the installation of the newest version. But as this is the security suite isnt it a bit different from the za pro?
