My firewall tells me that svhost.exe is attempting to accept a connection. The IP addy shows as my ISP at Whois. It's listed as port 135 ms-rpc. Is this a problem? I've been denying the connection.

I think nobody outside of your own LAN should be connecting to 135, I would deny it.

It's most likely a bot...a IRC Bot at that, I've used them and made some before, that how they work, I'd check all your files, and if it still happens maybe a system restore...

• Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
• By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
• Click on Install.
• It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
• Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
• Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
• Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
• Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
• DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

From what I understand, port 135 is for something called RPC to find other services running on the computer. Most people in a LAN environment uses File and Printer Sharing. But I dont know if port 135 is needed for that. You'll need to block 135 and test if File and Printer Sharing still works.

FW upgrade may have lost some of my rules. I re-ran the "Stealth Ports Wizard" and haven't seen that connection attempt since.

Are you sure of the spelling of the file name? svhost.exe? Because if have that file on your computer then you have some problems.
