Unhappy Solved: Problems With Avg
Hi. For the last month, the same error message has kept appearing (once in a while and, in particular, NOW) regarding AVG, when I am logging on to my computer. The messages say:

Re: Anti-Virus - Error Code Ox81000002

Re: Resident Shield - Registered properly ... component status could not be determined.
Connection failed.

I went into the AVG Test Centre and Anti-Virus "Properties" and found the following errors:

. partion table (MBR)
. boot sector of disk C
. windows\system32\kernel32.dll
. " \wsock32.dll
. " \user32.dll
. " \shell32.dll
. " \ntoskirnl.exe
. " \drivers/etc\hosts

I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA: (1) what any of that means; and, (2) how to fix the errors.
I would appreciate guidence, at a kindergarten level.

Thanks so much, LindaMac

Hi and welcome to TSG.
What version of Avg are you using?
Try reinstalling Avg.

Avg
Why didn't I think of that, Blues Harp? I'll remove and reinstall and get back to you. Thanks so much for the reply. Linda

Blues Harp, I uninstalled and reinstalled, resulting in the same problem.

After reading a few of the Security threads, I decided to uninstall AVG permanently and install Avast. So far (24 hours), no problems.

Thanks for your concern, Linda
