Hi Dan,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your post. The support staff at Symantec would not be able to "remove" your browser. The symptoms you describe clearly point to some type of infection. The first thing I would suggest is that you manually run LiveUpdate until it tells you that all updates have been applied. I would then run a Full System Scan and see what it finds.

If the issue persists after running a Full System scan, then please boot into Safe Mode and run the scan there.

Please try this, and reply back to this thread and let me know the status.

Thank you,
Mike

I do not have M's credentials.

Which version of Windows are you running?
RIGHT click "computer" / "my computer".
Left click "properties".
If XP, which version of XP, such as Home; & which service pack [ SP ]?

If you are running XP, you can remove IE.
Start > control panel
OR
Start > settings > control panel
Go to "classic view"

If you are using XP, open "add / remove programs".
On the left, open "windows components"
There, you can uncheck / deselect IE.
