Question All Browsers load different websites than intended
This is a problem that affects ALL web browsers I use, which include 4 very different ones.
Basically, the problem is that randomly, any one or more websites I may go to, whether I have been to them before or not, will think a different website is located at the address instead, and load the site as if it were the one it thinks it is. I may for example load this site, and it may end up thinking the address is for google instead, and load google instead of this site. It is very annoying to say the least.
However, whenever I clear my DNS cache, every site goes back to normal, and all sites load correctly, though it only is fixed temporarily before the problem starts happening again, usually when I close a web browser, so i think it may be a problem regarding my DNS. MY computer is a Dell Dimension E310 running Windows XP Media Center Edition.

Also, another probably unrelated problem is that it is currently impossible for me to download Firefox add-ons when they are being downloaded from Mozilla's official server for add-ons. The add-on installer is unable to find the add-ons on the server. Even clearing my DNS cache doesn't solve this one.

If anyone might have some solutions to my main problem, please share them. Any solutions to the second problem are not as high a priority for me, but would be nice also. Thank you for your time.

You must be infected with spyware. Try installing Spybot and scan your system

I have already checked for Spyware numerous times, but getting rid of spyware does not solve the problem at all.

Hi what Anti-virus program do you have installed?
Try an online scan.
Trendmicro

AVG.

Hi Joete,

Welcome to TSG!

The problem is likely DNS cache poisoning rather than a virus with a known signature otherwise the AV with the latest update would have likely caught it.

Clearing you DNS cache is as you have experienced only a temporary fix.

Have you reported your problem to your ISP whose DNS servers you use?

I would use OpenDNS if I were you. It fast and should solve your problem.
